342 Wakefield Quay, Nelson 7011

On the water side of Wakefield Quay, between the Fifeshire Rock memorial and the marina. Brick, three storeys, a green canopy over the door. If you have passed the sea-shanty bench you have gone about a hundred metres too far.

02 — Getting here
How long everything takes
| Nelson Airport | 6.4 km, nine minutes by car. Our shuttle runs on the half hour between 7am and 10pm, NZ$12 a seat — tell us your flight and it will be there. |
|---|---|
| Trafalgar Street | 1.6 km. Nineteen minutes on foot along the waterfront path, which is flat the whole way. |
| Saturday market | Montgomery Square, about twenty minutes on foot. It runs 8am to 1pm and is worth the early start. |
| The marina | Three minutes north, past the memorial. The fishing fleet unloads there in the early morning. |
| Mārahau (Abel Tasman) | One hour ten by road. Kaiteriteri is five minutes closer. Water taxis leave off the beach. |
| Moutere and Waimea wineries | From twenty-five minutes, on the way to Māpua. The concierge books the van. |
| Picton and the ferry | Two hours ten by road over the Rai Saddle. Leave three hours before a sailing. |
| Parking | 44 spaces under the building, NZ$18 a night, 2.1 m height limit. Campervans go on the street, which is free and legal here. |
| Charging | Two 22 kW chargers in the basement, free to guests while you are in the building. |
03 — Arriving
Check-in, and the small print of a day
Check-in is from 2pm and checkout is 11am, but reception is staffed around the clock and we will hold bags either side without charging for it. If your flight lands at 6am, come and have breakfast — the dining room opens at 6:30 and the room will be ready when it is ready.
There is someone at the desk at three in the morning, and they are awake, and they will find you a taxi, a phone charger, a plaster or a pot of tea. That is a thing we decided about this hotel early on and have not changed since.
04 — Write to us
The enquiry form
